Other Offerings

AGPS offers a variety of additional offerings with the intent of allowing students to set themselves apart by accumulating awards and recognition for their talents, hard work and service to the community.

Speech and Debate

  • Speech and debate students have a significant edge in college admissions. The principles of open debate have been the life blood of the American democracy, making its society stronger by transforming policies, guiding public opinion, and casting light on injustice.

  • Today, it’s more crucial than ever that our youth develop the skills to speak powerfully and persuasively in front of an audience as well as learn to think critically, explore all sides of an issue, and formulate evidence-based, rock-solid points of view.

  • Beyond the improvements in their academic performance that prepare them to excel in college, speech and debate students change in ways that influence every aspect of their lives. It gives them the social and academic confidence they need to grow as individuals, achieve educational goals, pursue meaningful work, and improve the lives of others—and our world.

  • Contests and Competitions

  • Including speech contest, writing contest, science contest, music contest and sports competitions.

  • Letters of Recommendation

  • Recommendation letters are an important piece of the college application. The Princeton Review writes that “competitive colleges use the letter of recommendation to assess [a student’s] passions, goals, and character. They want more than just a statistic.” Potential recommendation writers provide an important and integral service for college-bound students. A good recommendation letter brings the applicant to life on the page.

  • AGPS Elite students will have access to letters of recommendation from not only their instructors, but from important community, government and state leaders.

  • AGPS Magazine – Global Leader Today

  • AGPS students will be able to participate in the on campus publication Global Leader Today. Global Leader Today is produced by the students of AGPS and is entirely student- run, along with a faculty advisor, featuring articles, poetry, current events and photography.

  • Author Their Own Book

  • AGPS students will write a book, of up to three hundred pages, on the topic of their choice under the supervision of AGPS writing teachers.

  • Community Service

  • The AGPS Community Service Program provides students with opportunities to engage their community through service activities. The program emphasizes an "others first" approach, encouraging service and steadfast dedication to making a difference in the local community and university campus.

  • Leadership Program

  • AGPS Leadership Program allows students to develop the leadership skills necessary to be positive role models and active participants in the community by creating and managing their own unique organizations from the ground up. Students have the option to participate in the USA leadership program and annual event. Once a year, the top two students will be sent to the USA for ten days, all expenses paid by our USA sponsor.

  • Entrepreneurial Studies

  • Today’s highly entrepreneurial and technological economies reward innovation, dedication, and effectiveness. Developing these real world skills is crucial to any successful career. Students in teams will develop and execute their own business ideas and plans under faculty mentorship, exposing the students to professional environments.

  • Summer/Winter Internship Programs

  • Spend the winter and summer in your choice of internship programs located in the most exciting companies in the area. Each of the programs provide a unique combination that includes new friendships and exciting events, with tremendous resume building opportunities.

  • Internship opportunities will be available for students in good academic standing.
